This tour focuses on the Serengeti to see the Great Migration. You will spend at least four nights in the park: two nights in the Central Area, where many big cats are found, and two nights where the Migration is happening, depending on the time of year. The tour ends at the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can see the Big Five.
When you arrive at Kilimanjaro/Arusha Airport, your private driver-guide will greet you warmly. They will help you with your luggage and take you to your comfortable vehicle. During the ride to your accommodation, feel free to ask your guide any questions or share your excitement about the safari.
At your accommodation, you will receive a refreshing drink. Take a moment to relax, freshen up, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. In the evening, you will enjoy a delicious dinner made with local ingredients, showcasing regional cuisine.
After dinner, you can unwind in your cozy room before going to bed, excited for the safari adventure that awaits you the next day.
After an early breakfast, we will visit Tarangire National Park, named after the Tarangire River, the area’s sole water source during the dry season. The park has dense vegetation, including tall grass and acacia trees.
Tarangire is famous for its elephant families, often seen near the river, along with giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, while predators like lions and leopards are nearby. It also has the highest diversity of breeding bird species in the world.
This park is the best place to observe elephants in their natural habitat. After lunch and a game drive, we will head to the Ngorongoro Highlands for dinner and an overnight stay at a lodge or hotel.
In the morning, after breakfast, we will leave for Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is amazing and well-known for its wide-open grasslands, which are great for spotting wildlife. It is Tanzania’s oldest national park and one of the oldest ecosystems in the world. Its climate and plants have stayed mostly the same for millions of years.
The Serengeti is full of wildlife but is best known for the Great Migration. Every year, large groups of wildebeest, along with many zebras and antelope, move to find fresh grass to eat. The timing of this migration depends on the rainfall each year.
After breakfast, we will drive to the northern part of Serengeti National Park, known as Wagakuria. On the way from the Lobo area to Wagakuria, we will go on a game drive. As we head north, we might see giraffes, various plains animals, herds of buffalo, and elephants.
The Serengeti is famous for its wildlife, especially the annual Great Migration. Each year, large groups of wildebeest, along with many zebras and antelope, move to find fresh grazing areas. The timing of the Migration depends on the rainfall each year. From late July to September, the Migration is in Northern Serengeti, where the animals cross the Mara River to reach greener pastures in Maasai Mara. This also provides food for the Nile crocodiles living in the river.
After lunch and a long game drive, we will head to our tented camp for dinner and a night’s stay.
In the early morning, following a hearty breakfast, you will embark on another exciting adventure in the North Serengeti region, where you’ll spend the next two nights. Your days will be filled with exhilarating game drives in this remarkable area, renowned for its diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes.
One of the highlights of your visit will be the iconic Mara River crossing, a breathtaking event that is essential to witness when in the Serengeti. During this time of year, thousands of wildebeests undertake a perilous journey across the river in search of the lush, mineral-rich grasslands of Maasai Mara. These grasslands provide vital sustenance, and the wildebeests typically spend at least two months grazing here before beginning their migration back to the Southern Ndutu region, where they return to their ancestral birthing grounds, continuing the cycle of life.
Throughout the day, you will enjoy thrilling game drives, with opportunities to observe not only the wildebeests but also a variety of other wildlife that inhabit this region, including zebras, elephants, lions, and more. Your experienced guides will share their knowledge of the ecosystem, enhancing your understanding of this magnificent environment.
As the sun sets and the day comes to a close, you will head back to your comfortable accommodation. There, you can unwind and reflect on the exhilarating sights you’ve experienced, enjoy a delicious dinner, and prepare for a restful night’s sleep before another day of adventures in the Serengeti.
After a quick breakfast, we will drive through Serengeti National Park before heading to Ngorongoro Crater. Ngorongoro Crater appears to be a hidden world. The steep volcanic walls hide a beautiful landscape with open savannahs, acacia woodlands, and sparkling lakes and swamps.
We will reach our lodge in the late evening. There, we will have dinner and stay overnight at one of our carefully chosen lodges.
After enjoying an early breakfast, your adventure begins as you prepare to descend into the magnificent crater, which plunges nearly 600 meters deep. This impressive geological feature was formed millions of years ago when a massive volcano erupted, leading to its dramatic collapse. Over the past two to three million years, nature has transformed the crater into a stunning natural reserve, renowned for its incredible biodiversity and vibrant landscapes.
As you embark on the drive down towards the crater floor, you’ll be captivated by the breathtaking scenery that surrounds you. The journey itself is exhilarating, offering picturesque views and the thrill of anticipation. Upon reaching the crater floor, a whole new world awaits you. You will be immersed in a lively ecosystem teeming with wildlife, including large herds of wildebeest, striking zebras, graceful gazelles, and a rich variety of over 500 bird species. The sights and sounds of these animals will create an unforgettable experience as you explore the area.
One of the highlights of this unique environment is the chance to spot the endangered black rhino. This elusive creature can sometimes be seen foraging in the open grasslands, providing a rare and memorable opportunity for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.
After enjoying a delicious lunch amidst the stunning backdrop and engaging in an extensive game drive throughout the crater, you will have plenty of time to soak in the beauty of this remarkable landscape. As the day draws to a close, we will make our way back to Arusha or head directly to the airport, ensuring you are on time for your onward flight. This enriching experience will leave you with lasting memories of the crater’s remarkable wildlife and breathtaking scenery.
