This is a unique tour focused on the Serengeti, specifically to observe the Great Migration. You will spend a minimum of two nights in areas where the Migration occurs, depending on the time of year. This tour is designed to ensure you visit the major parks in the northern circuit, including Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater, and South Serengeti (Ndutu), which is part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Upon arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), a friendly representative from Rijay Africa Travel will greet you and help with your luggage.
Enjoy the scenic drive to your hotel in Arusha, which takes about an hour. Once checked in, take a moment to relax in your cozy room.
In the evening, explore the area or enjoy a delicious meal at the hotel restaurant, featuring local and international dishes. Get a good night’s rest as you gear up for the exciting adventures that lie ahead!
After breakfast, we will head to Tarangire National Park, named after the Tarangire River, the main water source for wildlife during the dry season. The park is famous for its elephant herds, along with giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, which attract predators such as lions and leopards. With the highest number of breeding bird species in the world, it’s a fantastic spot for birdwatching. In the late afternoon, we will drive to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay at a lodge or tented camp.
After breakfast, we travel to the southern Serengeti National Park, known as Ndutu. This area, part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, features Lake Ndutu, an alkaline lake with drinkable water that attracts diverse wildlife. From December to April, the short-grass plains host the wildebeest migration, along with elephants, birds, and other resident game.
The Ndutu Region connects the northern Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the southern Serengeti National Park. After lunch and a game drive, you will spend two nights at a lodge or tented camp.
After breakfast, we drive through South Serengeti National Park before heading to the Ngorongoro Crater. The Crater, surrounded by steep volcanic walls, features a pristine wilderness with savannahs, acacia woodlands, and shimmering lakes. Formed two to three million years ago from a collapsed volcano, it is famous for its geological wonders and dense large mammal populations.
Once on the Crater floor, you’ll encounter wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 bird species. It’s also one of the best places to spot the endangered black rhino.
After lunch and an extensive game drive, we will go to our partner lodges in Karatu for dinner and overnight accommodation.
After breakfast in the morning, we’ll drive to Lake Manyara National Park for game viewing, where we might see large troops of baboons. The park is famous for its elephant herds and occasionally sighted tree-climbing lions.
The alkaline lake supports an impressive variety of bird life, including thousands of pink flamingos along the shore. Even casual bird watchers will find much to enjoy.
A packed lunch will be provided at a picnic site, and after lunch and an extensive game drive, we’ll return to Arusha for your flight back home.
